I recently found a site called ScrapFriends and they are having a design team call.  So I've decided to submit an application and see what happens.  :)

This was the inspiration photo....

We were to use this photo to create a project just for this call.  I used the woodgrain, the texture of the burlap, the colours, and the circles for my layout.

This is I call her....or Charli girl as her mum (my best friend) calls her.  Charlotte is my favourite 5 year old.  And I'm pretty sure I'm a favourite of her's.  :)  She makes me smile every time I see her and love the way she loves me openly.  Just today as she left in her mum's car, she rolled down the window and yelled "I love you!".  Of course, I yelled it right back.  :)

Lace, burlap, pearl trim, paint, dew drops, doilies, and flowers make up my layout.  And of course my photo of Charlotte.  :)  Did I mention I love that girl???

Well, now for the waiting to begin.  Either way, in or not....I love this layout.  :)

Frosted Designs...

Its time for another Fabulous Friday challenge over at Frosted Designs.  This time around the challenge is "Grid".  Any way, any how.....just use grids!  Make sure you check out the FD blog to check out the other designer's creations.

When I started this project, it was more gridlike in my mind.  :)  But the challenges here can be interpreted any way you would like.  So I have taken that liberty with my project.

I painted this frame and added the chicken wire the same time I did this project.  I have had this frame on a shelf for awhile and most recently hanging on my wall empty for a few weeks.  I had a few thoughts as to what I wanted to put on it but nothing really spoke to me until this challenge.

I have been loving the instagram app on my phone.  Its so easy to snap a photo and do fun effects with it. I printed out a few of my favourite shots and clipped them to the chicken wire.  With them being on clips, I can change out the photos as I take new ones and want to see something different.

I added these tags with simple embellishments and words that speak to, wish, dream, and hope.

Now I have a place to hang favourite photos.....or could be notes, letters, anything....and they can be changed out easily.  I hope you'll play along with the "Grid" challenge at Frosted Designs.  Make sure you link up your project for a chance to win a prize and so I can check them out.

Happy Crafting!  :)

Frosted Designs...

Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday challenge this week is "things with wings".  Anything with wings goes.  I love using my butterfly punch on my pages but wanted to do something a wee bit different for this challenge.  I originally started this canvas with the thought of time flying as I look at this picture of Aron and am amazed at the young man he has turned into right before my eyes.  As the canvas came together, it grew and changed and time flying wasn't my focus any more.

I chose the quote "wherever you go, go with all your heart" for this canvas.  It really seemed to fit not only with my heart with wings but with this picture.  Aron has matured into such a lovely young man.  I know he will go far in life and do big things.  I can't wait to see where his life takes him.

I made my heart out of a scrap piece of corrugated cardboard, inked it and added stamped wings. The notebook paper with writing I found in a book and misted and riped it.  Measuring tape riboon, flowers, a wee key, some jute twine, and clocks compete my canvas.

I used my label maker with clear tape for my journal title.

I hope you'll play along with the challenge.  Make sure you link up your project to the Frosted Designs blog for a chance to win a prize and so I can check them out.

Frosted Designs...Project

Hello Everyone!  Today I have a framed project to share with you.  I've had this frame for quite awhile and just wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it.  When I got these photos printed, I knew they would be perfect for this frame.

I painted the frame brown and then stamped it with my woodgrain stamp.  I love the way that turned out.  Subtle but just right.  I added some old book pages to the frames that I didn't want photos in.

Ripping, misting, and rumpling gave me the look I wanted.  My best friend Lynne and I found these ink quills at a junk shop one day.  I've been hanging onto them cause they are just so cool!  I thought 3 wrapped together with my favourite....twine.....would be just right for this project.

These wee bottles were a find the in the same junk shop.  Love my tiny things.  I picked up the shells from our favourite beach and the sand....well, it just came from my shoes!  I could have a beach in my back yard just from the sand that we collect in shoes.  :)

Some buttons, lace trim, flowers, and a few wee words that describe my boys complete the frame.  I love the way it turned out.

I hope you've enjoyed my project and are thinking about a way you can showcase some special photos.

Happy Crafting!  :)

Frosted Designs...

I was so excited for this week's Fabulous Friday Challenge over at Frosted Designs because the challenge is "Kraft".  Kraft is my go to paper and absolute favourite.  In fact, I have to make myself not reach for kraft.  :)

Kraft can be in your project any way in any amount but I tried to use mostly kraft for my layout.  I punched butterflies out of kraft paper along with my ripped kraft paper.

This photo of Ian just looking and contemplating life seemed perfect for the saying "spread your wings and fly".

I used glue dots in the middle of my butterflies so they would look like they were flying off my page.

I hope you'll play along with the "Kraft" challenge over at Frosted Designs.  Make sure you link up your project for a chance to win a prize and so I can check them out.

Happy Crafting!!  :)

NZ Paper Chase...

I've recently found a New Zealand magazine NZ Paper Chase that has monthly challenges to play along with.  My super talented best friend Lynne is on their elite Design Team and I am going to have two layouts published in their next issue!!  I'm super excited about that.  Anyway......I played along with their March sketch challenge.  You can see the sketch here.  There was an added challenge of using paint or ink under your photo along with some patterned paper.

This photo is of my son Aden and Lynne's daughter Charli.  I just LOVE this shot.  We were snapping away and all of a sudden she makes THIS face.  I am so glad I caught it.  It makes me laugh everytime I see it.

Here is my take on the sketch.  I have always loved the look of really layered layouts and just can't ever seem to get it just how I really want it.  This layout....I love.  I did exactly what I wanted to achieve.  :)

flowers, doilies, buttons, sprays, lace, paper, beads, twine, sticker words, paint......

Do you see that face of Charli's????  I just love that girl.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look!  I'll be back with more projects soon.  :)

Frosted Designs...

Hello Everyone!  Some how the numbers on the calendar have ticked away and its now March.  With the year almost a 1/4th gone it seemed fitting that the Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday challenge this week is "numbers".  You can interpret this challenge any way you would like. I decided to use my favourite number 3 and one of my favourite photos of my boys.  I have always loved the number 3.  Don't ask me why but I have.  :)  I think its pretty ironic that I have 3 boys that I love to pieces.

I used three different fonts of stickers on my cardstock base and misted over top of them.  I love the shadow effect that it made.

I wanted to incorporate elements of "three" into my page so I included three flowers, doilies, hearts, and the number 3.  I also wanted to sew on this layout so thanks to my best friend Lynne for the use of her sewing machine.  I had gone around my page once and it looked nice all but one corner.  And that corner was going to bother me so I had to go around it again.  And then it struck me....I need to go around my page THREE times!  :) a not so straight sewing turned into another element of 3 on my page.  :)

I really hope you'll play along with this challenge.  It was a fun one for me.  Make sure you link up your project to the Frosted Designs blog for the chance to win a prize and so I can check it out.

Happy Crafting!!  :)

Scrapbookers Anonymous...

Hello Everyone!  How in the world did it get to be March already?!  Even with an extra day in February its here.  With the new month comes a new challenge over at Scrapbookers Anonymous.  The challenge this month is to "use stickers" on your layout.  When I first saw this challenge, it was exactly that.  A challenge!  I remember the days of sticker sneezing on my layouts.  :)  And really didn't think I used stickers very much anymore.  Well, I remembered seeing a layout once that used the frame of the actual sticker.  I would like to credit it to Stephanie Howell but I'm not sure if thats exactly right.  But I really liked the idea so I thought I would try it for this challenge.

So I cut out the frames of the sticker from their sheet and put them on my kraft paper.  Then pulled out my favourite...glimmer mist!  I misted my page with the stickers still on their backing and then carefully....oh so carefully....I pulled the frames of the backs and stuck them back on their spots on my page.

Funny thing is when I was done with my page, I realized that my letters were stickers too.  Soooo....I actually have 26 stickers on this layout!  :)  A beautiful photo of my favourite 8 year old, a few floating butterflies and some of my beloved twine and my page was done.   I was really happy with the end result.

I hope you'll play along with the sticker challenge at Scrapbookers Anonymous.  Maybe you're like me and have stickers in your stash you don't know what to do with.  Take this challenge to look at them in a new light.  Make sure you link up your project to the blog for the chance to win a prize and so I can check them out.

Happy Crafting!!  :)
